Missed my stories already? ๐ If so and even if it's not, here is another adventure I had, hunting waterfalls in Pocheon, S.Korea. As all my stories, I would show you what to expect if you go there..
Unlike my last post which was too long and painful to read, I'll keep this one short and sweet. ๐ So, I'll start by answering the first question in your mind right now. "What is this place?" Simply, this place is Unaksan. A place popular among locals but not among foreigners. It is a bit far away from Seoul and the hiking trails can test your wits which might have kept it hidden from many eyes.
So, how did I go there?
The easiest way to reach Unaksan is by Intercity bus. You can take the intercity bus to "Unaksan Rest area" from Dongseoul bus terminal. Since I was travelling Solo, I wanted to go there as early as possible so, I took the first bus to Unaksan from Dongseoul terminal at 6.50 AM (Crazy right?). It took only about an hour and a half to reach the Unaksan rest area. As soon as you get out of the bus, you will see a sign welcoming you to Unaksan.
There are two trails to choose from and I chose the trail going through Mujiji waterfall. This trail is a bit challenging compared to the other trail going through Sokkori waterfall. The main differences between these two trails were the two waterfalls. However, when you reach the top of Mujiji waterfall, there is a connecting rod between the two trails.
I started the hike around 9.00 AM and I managed to reach the base of the Mujiji waterfall around 10.00 AM. The path to the bottom of the waterfall was blocked by fallen tress so, it was challenging to reach there. But, this stubborn soul didn't give up.
After having this little detour, I started climbing again and I didn't stop until I reached the top. The view from the peak was breath taking. Let me share some pictures with you.
After resting there for about 1 hour and after a refreshing meal, I started climbing down in the other direction towards Gapyeong. The way down in this direction was much longer with gentle slopes. On the way down, I encountered several water out of which "Muu" waterfall can be highlighted as the best.
After I reach the end of the trail, I took 3300 bus to go to Daesongni station of Gyeonchun subway line. From there I took the subway and reached Sangbong station. The round trip took roughly about 9 hours.
Though hiking this beauty may be a bit hard, I suggest you all to try!
Until Next TIMEEE...
