Under the sponsorship of the World Health Organization (WHO) and other related organizations, World Health Day is a global health awareness day held annually on April 7.
Background
The history of World Health Day necessitates discussing the establishment of the World Health Organization as a whole in order to discuss World Health Day. In December 1945 representatives from China and Brazil made a proposal to establish an all-encompassing, non-governmental international health organization.
In July 1946, half a year later, the World Health Organization's constitution was approved in New York. The aforementioned constitution came into effect on April 7, 1948, when 61 nations agreed to form the non-governmental organization.
They established World Health Day as one of the WHO's first official actions. It was first observed on July 22, 1949, but in order to encourage student participation, the date was later changed to April 7, the day WHO was established.
Worth Health Day has used a different theme every year since 1950. The current WHO Director-General chooses the theme based on suggestions from member governments and staff.
World Health Day gives people all over the world a chance to talk about important issues in public health that affect everyone in the world. Promotional campaigns are launched in honor of World Health Day and continue long after April 7.
The 2023 World Health Day theme is Health For All. The WHO wants to use the 75th anniversary to look back at the transformations in medicine and health care that have improved the quality of life for so many.
