Hi there fellow adventurers. Within one week, I had the chance to hike two mountains namely; Naejangsan and Mindungsan. I am sure you must have read my entry on Naejangsan ( haven't you? ๐ฅ)so, with this post, I want to tell you the story of Mindungsan mountain in Jeongseon-gun . Let's see what we can expect to see if we go there!
Captured your attention with that pic, didn't I? Well, just like you I was blown-away by the beauty of this mountain. Mindung mountain is in Gangwon province, South Korea and it is one of the hot spots for hikers in Autumn. The peak of the mountain has an elevation of 1,118 m but, hiking this mountain is very easy thanks to the gentle slopes. The peak of this mountain has no trees at all. However, the peak is covered by Eulalia aka silver grass fields. The best time to go there will be either October or early November.
While I was lucky to get a lift to go to this place, not all of you might have your own ride. So, the best way to reach there is to take a train from Cheongnyangri station in Seoul to Mindungsan station. You can start the hike from Jeungsan elementary school. Then, you have to pass Balgudeok Village all the way upto Eulalia trails. Hiking this beauty will not take 3 hours due to gentle slopes. So, pack light and go.
When you reach the top, you will be blessed with an astonishing view as depicted in the following snaps.
half way up, there is a resting area where you can buy some food like fish cakes, water etc. and they also have a rest room. In case you get injured, the locals will help you to go down using there vehicles for which a generous contribution is expected.
Hope my article motivated you to go there!
As I always say, Please leave only foot prints.
Until the next climb,
Janith
