If you're planning to explore diverse cities in South Korea, you're going to use different transportation means. In this article, we decided to show the easiest & most importantly cheapest method to travel within Korea.
Although you can always wait until the last minute and buy your seat ticket at the station.. There are many things that can go against your will (sold-out seats, timing schedule, prices.. etc.). This article is meant to help you save time & get to know the Korean ExpressCity Bus system a bit more!
Before we start, there are two types of city-to-city buses! 1st; the InterCity buses. This refers to travels from and to smaller towns surrounding the big cities. They usually takes from less than an hour to one hour and a half at most. 2nd; the ExpressWay buses. These ones are the buses you take when travelling from a big city to another. They usually take from two hours to four hours or more.
So, what you'll firs is phone storage (no seriously.. you need to download two somewhat heafty Apps).
They're available both on Play store (and Apple store I believe).
Download the ExpressWay Bus first. Open it, and after you close down this tab it'll take you to the second App you need to download for the payment process.
After you agree to the terms and conditions on the second App, go back to the first App (where the fun happens).
At first, it will fool you into thinking it's in English my friend!! However, that is not the case. When it comes down to the important details such as date, route, seats and bus type; it's all in Korean language.
Note: In addition to exchange, refunds, ticket verification so on and so forth.
Here is a simple tutorial to book your seat!
After this, I'm afraid the App does not allow taking screenshots for security reasons. But what you mainly need to do to complete the payment is:
Create an account. (the PW has to be of 8 characters and no more than 4 consecutive numbers or letters! No special symbols needed though.)
Verify your phone number. (use Kakao for convenience)
Fill in the payment coordination. (keep your credit card & ID next to you!)
That's about all you need for it!
