Have you ever heard about the little fairy tale world in South Korea?
Hi guys! Today I want to tell and share my impressions about the wonderful fairy-tale world of South Korea, about Gamcheon Culture Village (감천 문화마을 ) which is located in Busan and which gave me incredible nostalgia and unforgettable feelings. Perhaps, this is one of my most beautiful and memorable trips in South Korea.
I hope that my content will be useful for you and maybe you can also decide to go and feel this colorful atmosphere.

About Busan Gamcheon Culture Village
This colorful village in Busan is well known for its steep stairs, twisting alleys and brightly painted houses. There you can see many souvenir shops, cute cafes, art galleries, fish wall and just see that almost everywhere there are murals and various cute street arts and decorations that make this place special. Gamcheon Culture Village has been reborn as Busan's most colorful and artistic spot.
The village was built in the 1950s by Korean War refugees and started as a shanty town. Than, slowly people started building brick houses and the village got bigger in size. Also named the " Machu Picchu of Busan" or the "Lego city", the Gamcheon Culture Village became the main tourist attraction of Busan in 2009 when the government decided to renovate it.
How to get to Gamcheon Culture Village?
I live in Jeonju , so first I went to Busan by bus, it took about 3 hours and it costs 24000 Won, but if you are a student just 19900 Won. And if you are already in Busan and you want to save up some money , I recommend taking the subway to the Toseong Station. Here, make sure to take the Exit 6 (follow the "Gamcheon Culture Village" sign). Head to the bus station and wait for the green minibus 1-1 or 2-2. I spent 1250 Won for bus and after about 15-20 min I was already there.
And one more thing I almost forgot to say, admission is FREE ^~^, so you can just go and take a walk and you won't spent a lot of money.
What did I do there?
First I met a local jeweler seller and her dog, they were so cute and friendly that I wanted to stay longer with them. She has a very beautiful store with an unusual design, I bought a bracelet(7000 Won) and you can also look there cause there is really awesome, you can take cool pics.
Her cute dog
Then, on the way, I found a cozy cafe and decided to drink a latte(3000 Won) to save energy for travel and it was just interesting to see local cafes. It was Gamnaegol fragnances (감내골 향기) cafe with a quiet atmosphere.
And also, you can find countless restaurants, delicious sweets and snacks. I tried Black Pink (블랙 핑크) ice cream🍧 for 3000 Won. It was very tasty, but a bit too much ))
Do you like to leave some little memories from the trip? I really like and so I tried it again. There I found one caricature place (오린왕자 커리커쳐) where you can be beautifully painted in a cartoon style, and you would have a little cute memory from this village. This pretty one costs 10000 Won, but I'm sure you won't regret about it.
Is it really cute?
And finally, one of the reasons why I wanted to come here, because there is the Little Prince. Yeah, I found my Little Prince and it was really great! Because I really like to read this book and was in love with this kind and wonderful character. If you are also a lover of him, you just need to visit this place!
Happy Girl with a Little Prince
I wanted to sit like this for a little while😂, but there was a long line of people who wanted to take photos with him too!
The next place (운세마차) is popular in the village, because there you can find out something interesting about your future for the whole year😱. Of course I tried and it was really fun.
You only need 1000 Won and exchange for coins.
Then take a coin and put it in the special place, and turn the handle to the left, you will get a red ball, inside of which is your prediction. You need to break the ball with a hammer and you're done!
At the end, I would like to finish my story with the Fish Walls. This is one of the features of the village, the walls of the fish are like a walking route, the direction of which is set by bright fish. I think that Fish Walls are really creative idea to show the way for such curious tourists like me.
I had a very incredible impression of this place, even this place reminded me of Europe, especially Rome with its narrow streets and steep stairs, in which I was in love with this city. Also near with my favourite characters, I felt like part of this fary tale-like city. So, I want to advise you to visit and feel the beauty of this fascinating place in Busan. I hope you learned a lot from here. Thank you!
