I’m Angela from Singapore. I’ve grown up all my life in Singapore and the sunny island holds a place in my heart so dearly. Back home, I’ve always grew up with people from different culture, background and religion. Being in a multiracial society, I’ve grew to be intrigued by diversity. I love to learn about people, their stories, history and culture! If you’ll to ask me 5 years back, I’d never have imagined myself in Korea today. But if you ask me today, I’ll say I’m thankful to be here in Korea!
안녕하세요! 저는 싱가포르에서 온 안젤라입니다. 저는 한국에 오기 전에 싱가포르에서만 살아봤으니, 그 아름답고 햇볕이 잘 드는 섬은 제 마음 속에 큰 자리를 차지하고 있습니다. 싱가포르에서는 다인종 문화가 있기에 저 어렸을 때부터 다른 사람이나 국가의 문화, 이야기, 역사에 관심이 많습니다. 5년 전만 해도 저에게 물어본다면, 저는 오늘 한국에 있는 제 모습을 상상하지 못했을 겁니다. 그러지만 오늘의 저는 한국에 있는 제 모습을 보고 아주 감사하다고 생각합니다. 
Before setting foot in Korea, I spent 3 years in college learning about Hotel Management. Through the years, I realized my passion for Marketing. On my final year, I did my internship with Ernst & Young (EY) Singapore under the Marketing & Communications Department. After graduation, I travelled to a few places – London, Iceland, Amsterdam, Prague & Milan. I also worked hard to save enough money to experience a 2-months working holiday in Korea. I can never deny my love for traveling and exploring new places!
Who knew months back after my working holiday, I’d be on a one-way flight to Korea? Departing the tiny red dot (yes, that’s how we like to call Singapore back home) with the Korean Government Scholarship Program, I first landed in Busan for a year of language studies in 2018. There, I met people from over 30 countries, and we bonded over a year. Today, many of my friends still call Busan our ‘hometown in Korea’.
저는 한국에 들어오기 전에 3년동안 싱가포르 칼리지에서 호텔경영과에 다녔습니다. 세월이 흐르면서 제가 마케팅에 대한 열정을 깨닫았습니다. 그러므로 막학기에 Ernst & Young라는 세계적인 4대 회계법인 회사 마케팅 부서에서 인턴십도 해봤습니다. 칼리지에 졸업한 후엔 열심히 돈 벌어서 곳곳에서 여행도 가봤고 한국에서도 2달동안 워킹홀리데이로 생활해봤습니다!
전 워킹홀리데이가 끝나고 몇달 뒤에 편도 비행기를 타서 한국에 온 줄 누가 알았겠어요? 한국정보초청장학금을 통해 부산에서 1년동안 어학연수를 했습니다. 거기서 감사하게도 30개 넘는 국가에서 온 친구들을 만나서 좋은 추억들 만들고 왔습니다.

Last year, I’ve enrolled into Yonsei University for my undergrad studies in Business Administration. I spent a year in Songdo, Incheon as requisite for all freshmen in Yonsei University. Only this year, I’ve moved into my own place in Seoul. Through my 2 years odd in Korea, I’ve been stepping out of my comfort. I used to be a true introvert, but I’ve learnt to widen my horizon by doing Seoul Metropolitan Government internship, joining the foreign student union and KR-SG business group as a secretary. If I were to introduce myself in a phrase, I think I’m a “jack of all trades, master of none”. I love exploring
new things to do and I’d love to challenge myself to many different fields.
작년 2월쯤에 연세대학교 경영학과에 입학했습니다. 신입생들은 필수로 인천 송도 캠퍼스에서 1년을 보냈고 올해 1월쯤에만 서울에 올라왔습니다. 한국에 지낸 2년 넘은 시간에 계속 자신을 도전했습니다. 서울시 인턴, 유학생 학생회, 한국-싱가포르 비즈니스 그룹에 활동도 많이 하고 경험을 쌓여봤습니다. 저 새로운 것들을 탐구하는 거 좋아하고 지속적으로 다양한 분야에 도전하고 싶습니다.
