India is known to be a diverse country- a smorgasbord of a different cultures, languages and religions. In fact, India defines itself with this trait - unity in diversity. The incredible thing about this diversity is that it has produced a plethora of dishes which define the Indian cuisine as a delicious and diverse set.
Traveling from north to south, and east to west of India, the taste varies incredibly. With this post, I am hope to explore the diversity of Indian food. So hope on and enjoy!
Tandoori
Tandoori is a dish that is created by grilling meat after dipping it in 'Indian style' batter that consists of spicy yogurt. Tandoori is a healthy meat based dish that originated from the northern Indian state of Punjab. With its spicy grilled flavor, tandoori is undoubtedly on top of famous Indian dishes worldwide.
Chikvi
Chikvi is a dish from the Northeastern state of India called Tripura. This tasty dish consists of bamboo shots and sliced pork. In addition to that, it also consists of papaya, soaked jack fruit seeds, rice flour paste and fresh lime leaves. The unique ingredients in this dish makes it stand out from the typical Indian cuisine. It is usually eaten with rice.
Butter Chicken
Butter chicken traditionally known as 'Murgh Makhani' is another one of India's famous dishes. It is a smooth and buttery chicken dish that is most often paired with 'naan'. This dish is said to have originated from India's capital territory, Delhi. Butter chicken is made special with spiced tomato and butter sauce which is also called 'makhan sauce'. It is known for having its silky smooth texture and will definitely leave you with the satisfaction of a tasty meal.
Hyderabadi Dum Biriyani
As the name suggests, Hyderabadi Dum Biryani is a famous dish from Hyderabad, the capital of the state of Telangana in South India and it is a rice based dish that is made amazing by the wide range of spices that are used in it. The Hyderabadi Dum Biriyani is prepared by cooking a pot of basmati rice slowly, filled with a wide variety of aromatic spices and flavors and is guaranteed to make your mouth water with its fragrance. If you love the spices used in Indian food, then you should definitely try this exquisite dish.
Porotta and beef fry
This Indian dish combo from the southern most state of Kerala is famous for being an amazing combination. The dish consists of deep fried beef and porotta, a flatbread made of 'maida'. Porotta is also alternatively called flaky ribbon pancake. If you ever visit India's southern state, don't forget to try this dish!
